Gear Reviews, Links, Books, Useful Stuff

This page is going to be where you can find out what we've been reading, links to websites that have been useful or an inspiration to us, reviews of our gear and other stuff we deem to be useful.  Let us know if you want anything specific reviewing, if you have book recommendations for us or websites you don't think we can live without!

Gear Reviews - Just a list of the blog posts that we have dedicated to reviewing the gear we have with us on our trip:

Finisterre are a cold water surfing company based in Cornwall, England. Although we aren't cold water surfing we think that clothes that can survive in those harsh environments can look after us on our trip.

Websites - There are a plethora of amazing websites written by the wonderfully helpful cycle touring community and here are some of our top favourites:

Friedel & Andrew's website is an absolute treasure trove of information and inspiration which you should definitely check out if you have any inclination to do a cycle tour of your own. They have even made an 86 page e-book called Bike Touring Basics which you can download for FREE.
We first heard of Tom Allen when we didn't manage to see Janapar, his film, at ShAFF.  The film is great by the way and you should check it out.  Since then we have come across Tom in a number of guises on the internet and his website is really packed with loads of info and most importantly encouragement and excuse-busting get-out-&-go advice.

Eric & Amaya have been bike touring since 2006 and have an ambition to cycle through every country in the world.  Their website is another mine of useful info and the first website we found about cycle touring.  They were also where we finally found a solution to our tedious emergency medical insurance issues.

Tara & Tyler have an incredible amount of detail on the website about gear and how they did it.  Plus a lovely bike touring cookbook 'Bike. Camp. Cook.'
Bicycle Traveller Magazine is a free online magazine with contributions from loads of different touring cyclists. Its funny, inspiring, full of great pictures and just a great read, I only wish it came out more often.
